For this tutorial, we’re going to learn how to reset a Kenmore dishwasher.

How to reset a Kenmore Dishwasher | 5 unique methods

Naturally, this is the part where we talk about the one method to reset the dishwasher, but this is different. See, because of how the dishwashers are designed, the resetting method varies between models. So, we’re going to have to learn how to reset a Kenmore dishwasher for each model.

How to reset a standard model Kenmore Dishwasher

There are two ways to reset a standard Kenmore Dishwasher, and depending on the circumstances, one of them might do the trick. The first method is pretty straightforward, but the second is where it gets doozy, however.

First Method:

  • Press these buttons in order 3 times: Select Cycle, Options, and Heated Dry.
  • If you’ve entered the buttons in the correct sequence, the Cancel button will light up. Then, you press the Cancel button when it lights up.
  • After the dishwasher enters a 12-minute test cycle, it has been successfully reset.

Second Method:

  • Turn off the dishwasher and remove the dish racks. Turn it on to enter standby mode.
  • Next, input the Test Cycle button sequence by pressing Select Cycle, Option, and Heated Dry three times.
  • When the red light turns on, hit the Cancel button, after which you should hear a slight humming from the dishwasher. During this, do NOT open the dishwasher.
  • Wait for at least 12 minutes or until the humming stops.
  • Finally, put the dishracks back into the dishwasher. To determine whether the process worked, run a test wash-and-rinse cycle.

  • Remove the dishracks before turning the unit back on to standby mode.
  • Press the 1,2, and 3 buttons three times in quick succession. If you delay each press by over a second, then you’ll have to start over from the beginning.
  • If you do it right, the dishwasher will automatically enter Test Mode. Wait for roughly 5 minutes for the cycle to finish.
  • When the Test mode is done, reinsert the dishracks. To check whether the dishwasher is working and functional, run a test cycle.
